Sura 77 Dispatched
(Angels) dispatched in succession. 2To drive the wind. 3Stir up clouds. 4Distribute the provisions. 5Deliver messages. 6Good news, as well as warnings. 7What is promised will come to pass. 8Thus, when the stars are put out. 9The sky is opened up. 10The mountains are blown up. 11The messengers are summoned. 12That is the appointed day. 13The Day of Decision. 14What a Day of Decision! 15Woe on that day to the rejectors. 16Did we not annihilate the earlier generations? 17Then we made others follow them? 18This is what we do to the criminals. 19Woe on that day to the rejectors. 20Did we not create you from a lowly liquid?*
*77:20 According to Langman's Medical Embryology, by T. W. Sadler (Fifth Edition, Page 88): "In general the length of pregnancy for a full term fetus is 266 days or 38 weeks after fertilization." Both 266 and 38 are multiples of 19 (Appendix 1).
21Then we placed it in a well-protected repository. 22For a specific period. 23We measured it precisely.* We are the best designers. 24Woe on that day to the rejectors. 25Did we not make the earth an abode? 26For the living and the dead? 27We placed on it high mountains, and provided you with fresh water to drink. 28Woe on that day to the rejectors. 29Go to what you used to disbelieve in. 30Go to a shade of three different densities. 31Yet, it provides neither coolness, nor protection from the heat. 32It throws sparks as big as mansions. 33As yellow as the color of camels. 34Woe on that day to the rejectors. 35That is the day they do not speak. 36Nor are they given permission to apologize. 37Woe on that day to the rejectors. 38This is the Day of Decision. We have summoned you and the previous generations. 39If you have any schemes, go ahead and scheme. 40Woe on that day to the rejectors. 41The righteous will enjoy shade and springs. 42And fruits that they desire.
43Eat and drink happily in return for your works. 44We thus reward the virtuous. 45Woe on that day to the rejectors. 46Eat and enjoy temporarily; you are guilty. 47Woe on that day to the rejectors. 48When they are told, "Bow down," they do not bow down. 49Woe on that day to the rejectors. 50Which Hadith, other than this, do they uphold?
