Rights and credits

WikiSubmission publishes the Quran in the translation of Dr. Rashad Khalifa, the writings and recordings of the community that grew around it, and translations of the Quran into other languages. This page says who holds what, who made it, and what you may do with it.

The Quran and its translation

Quran: The Final Testament is the English translation of Dr. Rashad Khalifa (1935 to 1990), first published by Islamic Productions in Tucson, Arizona, with its sura titles, subtitles, footnotes, introduction and appendices. We reproduce it as published, correct our copy against the printed editions, and never alter the translation's words. The translation is his work; it is not ours, and we are not its publisher.

We publish it in the belief that its translator meant it to reach everyone, and that sharing it whole, credited and unsold honors that. If you hold rights in it and see it differently, write to us and we will answer.

The Arabic text of the Quran is not subject to copyright.

Translations into other languages

The Quran in other languages on this site is translated from Dr. Khalifa's English by the people and groups named below, each with the language they translated. Most come from editions those translators published themselves, whose text the site holds, corrects and credits; their own editions remain the reference. A translator keeps the rights to their translation. Where the translator named is a machine, the text is a machine translation of the English edition that no translator has yet reviewed, and it is offered as such. The list is the Library's record and changes as translations are added, reviewed or corrected.

What we host

The Library holds books, newsletters, sermons, programs and recordings made by Dr. Khalifa, by Masjid Tucson and by others in the community, and links to where they were published. Each work's page names who made it and where it came from. We host copies so they stay available, and we take a work down or correct its credit when the person who made it asks. Write to us with the work's address.

What is ours

The site, the apps and their software are open source under the license in our repository. What we write ourselves, the descriptions, the overviews and the guides, and the typesetting of the editions we make, such as the PDFs, belong to WikiSubmission and may be shared with credit and without charge. Answers written by the AI are readings of the texts it cites and carry no rights of their own.

Sharing the material

You may read, print, copy and share the Quran and the works we host, whole and unchanged, with their credits, and without charging for them. Quote with the reference, such as 2:62, or the work's title and author. Do not present a translation as another's, change its words, or sell what is here. Reuse in a product, a publication or a service that is sold needs the permission of whoever holds the rights to that work, which is seldom us.

Names and marks

WikiSubmission is the name of the organization and its site and apps. Masjid Tucson, the Submitters Perspective and the other names of the works are their owners'. We use them to credit, never to imply that they publish or endorse this site.

Questions and requests
